This is how it sounds on my car. Making this video was also the first timeI’d ever heard it from the outside, and I think it sounds better than my ST with a catback exhaust ever did!!

That’s got a nicer grumble than I would’ve thought and I really like the occasional cracks and pops..
Is it just me or does it sound a tad like a Fiat 500 Abarth(by no means a bad thing in my book)?

Reminds me of an SRT4. Not that I’m complaining. I like the sound of a loud 4-banger in a mustang.

How obnoxious is it in cabin?

Not that bad actually! To me, it sounds no different than the active noise whatever Ford implemented. Not boomy at all. It’s quiet but noticeable cruising around town, and when you get on it, it’s nice and roaring.
I will admit, I’ve some noticeable drone and subsequent vibration between 3750-4250rpm. Unless you’re purposely holding it within that range or driving in the upper rpms all the time, it’s negligible. Even so, I’m going to be putting in a Y-pipe and removing the stock resonator for two Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonators to each pipe to see if that reduces the drone in any way.

That was the intended goal: To sound as close to an Abarth as possible. Who would’ve thought all it would take is removing the mufflers. ;)

The sound I wanted to emulate was the 500/124 Abarth or SRT-4. The fact that two people have said it reminds them of those vehicles tells me this was moderately successful! ^_^

What I find kind of weird is that is sounds nothing like the old SVO’s, yet they are both 2.3 turbos. My old SVO with a 3" DP and dynomax mufflers sounded nothing like that.
I found this video which is about the closest to yours and it’s a straight 3" no muffler system:
But yours sounds much better. This one sounds almost broken.

Even though they’re both 2.3s, the Ecoboost is modern with DOHC, direct injection, headifold (cylinder head/exhaust manifold combined), and other technological updates over the SVO’s SOHV, port injection, and other advancements of the era.
I’d love to drive an SVO one day, back to back with my car; especially a built one. ^_^
